Public Health is both strategic and operational and has a wide span of interests. Our core business areas include health protection; 0-19 services; sexual health; promoting healthy lifestyles and tackling obesity; smoking and vaping; drug and alcohol; mental health, and domestic abuse. We commission services for many of these areas, and have a core group of commissioners in-house, which the successful applicant will join. The work our service does makes a major contribution to the council's strategic plan, particularly to the following priority: We want to be a County where all people can live their best lives; where communities and individuals are supported to live safely, healthily, happily and independently. The successful candidate will report to the Commissioning Lead for Prevention and Inequalities. About the Role: We are looking for a task orientated and knowledgeable person to commission healthy lifestyles services including NHS Health Checks, adult weight management, smoking cessation and physical activities. We are looking at the innovation potential to shape a service that is fit for the future, and the successful candidate will be collaborating with other commissioners, public health colleagues and stakeholders to develop a model that will work in an evolving landscape of obesity medication, behaviour change, and neighbourhood health offers. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in improving population and patient outcomes in relation to healthy lifestyles and reducing health inequalities. They will draw on their skills and experiences in healthy lifestyle models, commissioning, public health prevention approaches, or behaviour change methods. Key Responsibilities: Commission and oversee healthy lifestyle services. Improve population and patient outcomes in relation to healthy lifestyles. Manage complex projects and negotiate effectively with service providers. Ensure cost and quality are well-managed. Ensure services meet the demand and needs of the Warwickshire population. Engage and consult with Warwickshire residents, promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion. Build strong relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners. Qualifications and Experience: We are looking for someone with experience in public sector commissioning and an understanding of Public Health services, policies, and legislation. You will have a commitment to engagement and consultation with residents and tackling health inequalities. This post requires the ability to manage complex projects, a high degree of resilience and excellent project management skills. You will have strong relationship-building skills with stakeholders and partners and the ability to manage and maintain effective relationships with providers and partner agencies at local, regional, and national levels. You will have the confidence and resilience to hold difficult conversations with providers linked to performance and outcomes.
