The Role As a Year 2 Class Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting pupils as they consolidate their Key Stage 1 learning and prepare for the transition into Key Stage 2. You will deliver a broad, balanced, and engaging curriculum that develops strong foundations in reading, writing, and mathematics, while also promoting creativity, independence, and resilience. You will plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all learners, using assessment effectively to inform planning and ensure progress for every child. You will create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where children feel confident to take risks, ask questions, and celebrate their achievements. The role requires a teacher who understands the importance of early learning and development, including phonics, early reading, and numeracy, while also nurturing social, emotional, and personal growth. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and effective lessons in line with the National Curriculum Create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment with high expectations for all pupils Use ongoing assessment to monitor progress and inform teaching Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND and higher-attaining learners Support pupils’ transition from Year 1 to Year 2 and prepare them for Key Stage 2 Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s values consistently Work closely with teaching assistants and support staff to maximise pupil outcomes Communicate effectively with parents and carers, building strong, positive relationships Contribute to staff meetings, training, and whole-school initiatives Actively support safeguarding and promote pupil wellbeing at all times About You We are looking for a teacher who is enthusiastic, nurturing, and committed to delivering high-quality teaching and learning. You will be patient, adaptable, and passionate about supporting young learners during this important stage of their development. The successful candidate will ideally: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1 (Year 2 experience desirable but not essential) Demonstrate strong knowledge of early literacy, phonics, and numeracy Be creative and enthusiastic, with a child-centred approach to teaching Have high expectations for pupil achievement, behaviour, and wellbeing Be an effective communicator and collaborative team member Show a commitment to inclusion, equality, and safeguarding Be willing to contribute to the wider life of the school Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply and will receive structured mentoring and support.
