Motorola Solutions’ Avigilon Alta Video brings Cloud video security systems to the next level. Alta’s cloud-based video security solution offers industry leading full AI video analytics and exceptional operational insights.
The Alta Video engineering team injects intelligence into their approach to security and all their solutions. They help organisations see, understand, and act on their surroundings to protect people, business, and reputation in real-time.
We have a fantastic city center office in the heart of Edinburgh and fully embrace a hybrid home/office working model, with an aim for 2 days in the office.
As a Software Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with talented engineers to build high performing teams. A successful candidate will have strong coaching and motivational skills to enable highly technical teams to achieve results in a fast paced environment. We want engaging leaders to build great teams that can then build great products!
What this role involves:
1. Leading and building high performing teams of software developers from graduate to senior level.
2. Coaching, mentoring and encouraging career development.
3. Working with the teams to promote engineering best practices.
4. Driving a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
5. Working closely with the product team to champion the balance between short and long term objectives.
6. Collaborating with the wider organization to achieve our strategic objectives.
Basic Requirements
What we are looking for in you:
7. 3 or more years of experience in leading people and software engineering teams.
8. Demonstrated experience in leveraging AI tools for optimizing engineering processes and team performance.
9. Track record of your teams delivering on time.
10. A natural ability to inspire and motivate.
11. Drive for continual learning.
12. Exposure to Scrum or other Agile frameworks.
13. Knowledge of modern software development lifecycles (SDLC).
14. Cloud and/or DevOps experience on a product with a large customer base and global reach.
15. Passionate about CI/CD and release trains, delivering a regular cadence of features and quality improvements.
16. Mastery in any programming language (C++, Go, TypeScript, …).
17. Lead by example, exceed expectations and go above and beyond.
18. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
