Job Title: SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)\nLocation: Lancashire/Yorkshire\nStart Date: 1st August 2025\nSalary: £23,000–£25,000 per annum\n\nAbout the Role\nA rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced SEN HLTA to join a forward-thinking and nurturing educational setting dedicated to supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs. The successful candidate will work in an inclusive, trauma-informed school environment where the focus is on unlocking the potential of every learner through care, structure, and meaningful engagement.\n\nThis is an ideal role for a passionate professional looking to deepen their experience in special education and play a key part in shaping the early development of a growing provision. The organisation has a strong track record in therapeutic residential care and is now expanding its educational services through the development of independent specialist schools for young people aged 11–16.

This is a unique chance to contribute to something truly impactful from the ground up.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * \n\n Support teachers in planning and delivering tailored, engaging lessons to meet a wide range of SEN needs.\n\n * \n\n Work one-on-one and in small groups to implement targeted interventions.\n\n * \n\n Assist with the creation and execution of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).\n\n * \n\n Promote a positive, inclusive classroom environment where all students feel safe and supported.\n\n * \n\n Monitor and record student progress, helping adapt strategies as needed.\n\n * \n\n Collaborate with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to support holistic student development.\n\n * \n\n Lead group activities and facilitate independent learning, following guidance from the teaching team.\n\nCandidate Requirements\n\n * \n\n HLTA qualification (essential).\n\n * \n\n Minimum 3 years’ experience working in SEN settings, across at least two schools.\n\n * \n\n Practical knowledge of supporting students with Moderate and Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD).\n\n * \n\n Willingness to support students with personal care when required.\n\n * \n\n Must hold a valid DBS registered on the Update Service.\n\n * \n\n Empathetic, resilient, and driven by the desire to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable learners.\n\nWhat’s on Offer\n\n * \n\n Competitive salary of £23,000–£25,000\n\n * \n\n A caring and collaborative workplace culture\n\n * \n\n Funded Continuing Professional Development (CPD)\n\n * \n\n Strong support from an experienced leadership team\n\n * \n\n Access to Employee Assistance Programme\n\n * \n\n Blue Light discount card for all staff\n\n * \n\n Ofsted rating performance bonus\n\n * \n\n NEST pension scheme\n\n * \n\n Private medical insurance\n\nThis is more than just a job—it’s a career path with real purpose and the chance to grow alongside an expanding network of specialist education providers.
