Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated SLT to join our large team which includes specialists in many clinical areas. You will gain new skills, experiences and support Haringey and Barnet children and young people, their families, and schools. We have a strong focus on working with families and achieving the best outcomes for the children and young people. The role is a 10 month fixed term, Band 5-6 run through. Applications are welcome from current Band 5 or 6 SLTs with experience in early years clinics or mainstream schools. Additional support and training will be offered for less experienced therapists. If the applicant begins the role on a Band 5 grade, progression to band 6 pay levels can occur once skills, experience and competencies are achieved. The post holders would form part of the Speech and Language Therapy Teams in Barnet, providing assessment, differential diagnosis, advice to children with speech, language and communication difficulties. The caseload would be a range of children in Early Years and/or Mainstream Schools depending on experience.
Responsibilities
To be responsible for clinical delivery of a specialist SLT service to carry out initial assessments and packages of care to a caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication needs around the borough of Barnet. This includes completing assessments, writing individual programmes, implementing groups, providing specialist advice and resources and reviewing outcomes with a functional based focus. To work collaboratively with children, families and other professionals to achieve outcomes, providing support, programmes, ideas, advice and assessment. To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures, with knowledge of current research and best practice in the field. To provide a service considering the needs of clients from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. To liaise with specialist teaching staff, classroom teachers and education support staff to provide SLT input to curriculum and programme planning, and to maintain close links with SLT staff across Early Years, School Age and Adult Teams to ensure smooth transitions between phases as required.

Qualifications and experience
Education, qualifications and training
* BSc in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent (including Dip. CST)
* Health and Care Professions Council Registration to Practice
* Registered Member of RCSLT
Experience
* Essential: Experience of a specialist range of assessment tools and procedures to evaluate communication and language disorders
* Desirable: Experience of training parents, teachers, TAs and students
Knowledge
* Knowledge of key characteristics leading to differential diagnosis between SLCN/SEMH/DLD/LD/ASD
Other requirements
* Ability to take majority of leave in school holidays
