We have an exciting opportunity to work at Lander MedicalPractice where we are recruiting to our team of MSK Physiotherapists. The role isto cover for 26 hours per week. The hours will be over Monday, Tuesday and Friday (This is open to change). The Lander Medical practice provides a fullyintegrated in house personalised physiotherapy service. Referrals are presentlyfrom GPs and some agreed practice staff, midwives and PCN employed clinicians.People presenting with MSK conditions are given a comprehensive assessment andtheir needs, involving share decision making to develop a personalisedphysiotherapy plan. We support self management and integrated managementpathways for the holistic health of our population. Timing, intensity,frequency, location and mode of delivery of physiotherapy is personalised andflexible to the persons individual needs as service provision allows. The postholder will work as an integral part of the practice responding to the needs ofpeople presenting with MSK conditions with Non AQP and AQP neck and backreferrals.

Collaboratively managing the day to day running of thedepartment and optimising the development our MSK physiotherapy services withthe current MSK physiotherapy service standards


Main duties of the job

To provide a high standard of musculoskeletal physiotherapyto patients referred as an autonomous practitioner. The post holder will beresponsible for their own caseload providing advanced clinical assessment,diagnosis, planning treatment goals with shared decision making and appropriatedischarge from the service adapting practice to suit the needs of the patientsmany of whom may have acute, complex and/or chronic presentations. Tocollaborate and support other staff working in this area with assessment,diagnosis, treatment and management of patients. To support the operationalaspects of the musculoskeletal physiotherapy service. Experience at postgraduate level with a wide range of Musculoskeletal specialties. Experience ofmanaging and developing staff Able to apply frequent moderate effort for shortperiods of time in the treatment of patients and use of manual techniques Ableto apply concentration for prolonged periods of time during patient assessmentand treatment and manage occasional distressing or emotional circumstances orimpart unwelcome news regarding rehabilitation prospects.


About us

We are a very busy GP practice with 8 GP partners and 5 salaried GPs, with a patient list size of 19,500 patients, covering two sites.Our Physiotherapy team consists of 3 Physiotherapists with dedicatedadministrative support. We work closely with our neighbouring practice withinthe building as a PCN and have ARRS roles working with us including a ClinicalPharmacists and Paramedics. The Physiotherapy team work closely together withinthe Truro Health Park with a physiotherapy treatment room and shared gymnasium.We may provide clinics at our satellite surgery at Threemilestone as ourservice expands.


Job responsibilities

* To assess patients, design and implement appropriate treatment regimes for patients in accordance with clinical guidelines and professional codes of conduct as defined by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP).
* Assess patient understanding of treatment proposals, gain valid informed consent and have the capacity to work within a legal framework with all patients.
* To be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient treatment records in line with the CSP standards of practice.
* To perform highly specialised comprehensive physiotherapeutic assessment of patients with diverse presentations, complex physical and psychological conditions and multi-pathologies using clinical reasoning skills and manual assessment techniques to provide an accurate diagnosis of their condition. This may include interpretation and analysis of clinical and non-clinical information and investigations.
* Formulate and deliver high specialised individual treatment programmes based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options e.g. manual physiotherapy techniques, patient education, exercise classes and other alternative options.
* Formulate accurate prognoses and recommend best course of intervention, developing comprehensive discharge plans, liaising with GPs, consultants and more senior colleagues as appropriate.
* Evaluate patient progress, reassess, and alter treatment programmes if required.

Other

* To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all equipment, and to take any necessary initial action if the equipment is thought to be unsafe.
* To be involved in the development of organisational and departmental policies and procedures, and to be involved in reviewing and updating as appropriate in this clinical area.
* To be responsible for managing own competency to practice through CPD activities.
* Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practice in the musculoskeletal area of physiotherapy, continuing to develop specialist knowledge.

General

To take an active part in the appraisal process.

General Practice is an ever-changing service, and all staff are expected to participate constructively in Practice activities and to adopt a flexible approach to their work.

This job description will be reviewed annually during the appraisal process and will be varied in the light of the business needs of the Practice.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Diploma / Degree in Physiotherapy HCPC Registration
* Membership of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Involvement in any CSP special interest group Postgraduate musculoskeletal experience Foundation Acupuncture course and AACP membership Masters qualification or working towards


Experience

* Ideally minimum of two years postgraduate experience, including specific musculoskeletal experience. Experience of student and junior supervision, contributing to clinical education of less experienced staff.
* Band 6 experience in outpatients and/or general practice Student supervision / training course qualification Evidence of evaluation and audit of clinical practise
* Has a track record of tactful, diplomatic and sensitive communication with colleagues, all members of the multi-disciplinary team, patients, and carers, etc. Shows genuine empathy and understanding for patients, their families and carers (balanced with objectivity). Able to consistently work well as part of a team, showing empathy and support for colleagues. Shows complete reliability in all matters and is honest and trustworthy. Has evidence of ability to take responsibility and make appropriate decisions, using a problem-solving approach.
