The post would suit someone who aims to pursue a career in gynaecological oncology and who wishes to develop an interest in teaching whilst broadening their clinical experience.
Ideally the successful applicant will have completed Foundation Training (or equivalent) and be in a position to confirm progression at ARCP. The post is advertised for a doctor who would function at Tier 1 level, (SHO grade/Junior Clinical Teaching Fellow).
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will play a central role in the coordination, organization, and delivery of the undergraduate clinical teaching programme each week. The remainder of the working week will consist of clinical duties and professional development. There are no on-call commitments to the post but locum opportunities may be available. The main clinical duties will be in a Gynaecological Oncology department. Specialist clinics and training can be arranged according to career interests. You will be supervised by a Consultant Gynaecological Oncologist who has a large commitment to undergraduate training.
The post includes the opportunity to undertake a formal qualification in Medical Education (Certificate or Diploma) during their employment within the Trust. Any formal qualification will be undertaken during the year of employment within the Trust and is subject to a financial cap (international applicants may not be eligible for this funding and if wishing to pursue a qualification, this may need to be funded personally.

Job responsibilities
Applications are invited from registered Medical Practitioners who possess MRCOG part 1 or equivalent for the above post based across the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
The departments provide undergraduate teaching to medical students from Newcastle University in both stage 3, 4 and stage 5 as part of their Womens Health rotations. Teaching is provided in a variety of clinical settings and the postholder would be expected to provide teaching to individuals, small groups and more formal teaching sessions in addition to being trained as a simulation training faculty member whilst in post. The postholder would be expected to participate in student induction sessions and assessment sessions alongside Miss Ang. A variety of clinical sessions are provided within the job plan and it is expected that these will provide the postholder with valuable clinical experience as well as providing an opportunity to deliver clinical teaching.
