Overview
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust (UHCW) is one of the UK’s largest teaching hospitals with over 1,000 beds and serves more than a million people in the surrounding area. Position Summary
This is a 2‑year Fixed Term Apprenticeship for a Pre‑Registration Trainee Pharmacy Technician. The role combines on‑the‑job training at UHCW with day release at a chosen training provider to achieve a Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians, enabling registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC). Apprenticeship funding rules apply.
Key Responsibilities
* Gain experience of the technical work carried out by Pharmacy Technicians across all pharmacy departments at the UHCW and St. Cross Rugby sites.
* Complete rotations in dispensary and stores for medicines management and supply, goods receipt (stock receiving), clinical trials, medicines information and interactions with patients and ward medication supply.
* Participate in weekend, bank holiday and late night shifts as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
* Successful completion of the 2‑year training course with an award of the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles and Practice for Pharmacy Technicians.
* Provide an immunisation and vaccination report from a UK occupational health provider or UK GP.
* Commitment to a full‑time, 37.5‑hour work week Monday to Friday, including weekend and holiday working.
* Employment subject to sponsorship not being eligible.

Contract and Compensation
Full‑time fixed‑term contract of 2 years, 37.5 hours per week. The salary is 70 % of a Band 4 Technician in the first year, rising to 75 % in the second year, in accordance with Apprentice and Age related national minimum wage where applicable.
