We are looking for a Gujarati-speaking befriender volunteer to meet with people we support at our service in Harrow. Volunteering with Creative Support is a great way to enrich the lives of people with support needs while helping our staff to deliver person-centred services.
We are looking for an outgoing, sociable and warm person, who's also a good listener. As a befriender, you will provide companionship and meet up regularly with one of our residents. If you have a couple of hours to spare and can commit to volunteering on a regular basis, we'd love to hear from you!
Our resident also enjoys cooking, and playing board games and card games, and has asked that their befriender volunteer enjoys the same activities and can take part in these activities together during their volunteering sessions.
This role is for an extra care service with self-contained flats for older people with a variety of support needs.
Volunteer Duties:
- Meet on a regular basis with the person we support
- Provide companionship and conversation whilst respecting boundaries
- Engage the person we support in activities
- Report any safeguarding concerns to Creative Support staff members
- Work within Creative Support policies and procedures, respecting boundaries
- Attend regular supervisions with your supervisor and complete any training provided
