Responsibilities
1. Apply & continue to develop a breadth of engineering skills, in the discipline of Naval Architecture and where applicable, other related disciplines.
2. Define & conduct specific engineering analysis and project management techniques and keep abreast of emerging technologies that could improve the company and/or client processes & outputs.
3. Investigate & solve complex technical problems in concept, basic & detailed design phases.
4. Develop & maintain written technical and administrative procedures, standards, processes, practices, guidelines, and standards.
5. Interface directly with our customers and clients, representing our teams to discuss engineering solutions to complex problems.
Qualifications
6. Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (., Naval Architecture, Ship Science, Marine Technology, Marine Engineering), or equivalent experience in the naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance domain.
7. Member of a relevant engineering institution (., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).

Experience
13. The successful candidate will ideally have a minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience (6 years for non-degree qualified) working in either the commercial or naval maritime domain
14. Experienced in at least one of the following key technical knowledge areas:
a. Hydrostatic, seakeeping & stability analysis.
b. Propulsion, resistance, and powering requirements.
c. Hydrodynamic & manoeuvring analysis.
d. Marine structure design & analysis.
e. Ship design; including hull form, superstructure, arrangement & outfitting
15. Experience of using Naval Architecture design & analysis software packages (., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MaxSurf, NAPA, Aveva, Paramarine, Orcaflex, Ansys Structural/Fluent, MatLab, MS Excel).
16. Experience of working in small multi-discipline teams with an ability to communicate effectively.
What do I need before I apply
17. The post will be based in an environment regulated by Trade Control legislation and involve working with controlled goods, technology and/or services.
18. We are interested in engaging with all candidates with the necessary experience, however it should be noted that naval projects may be subject to initial security considerations (., sole UK nationality and eligible for ‘Security Check’ (SC) or ‘Developed Vetting’ (DV) security clearance).
