SEN CLASS TEACHER (DURHAM) Are you a teacher who believes that relationships come before results and that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and understood? We are seeking a compassionate and reflective teacher to join a specialist primary SEN provision in Durham. This is an exciting opportunity for a mainstream class teacher who is ready to take a stepping stone into specialist education. Prior SEN experience is not essential—full training and support will be provided. You will work with pupils who have a range of additional needs, including autism, social, emotional and mental health needs, and learning difficulties. Many pupils use behaviour as a way to communicate, and your nurturing approach will help them feel regulated, secure, and ready to learn. The role will involve: Planning and delivering personalised, engaging lessons Supporting pupils with complex emotional and behavioural needs Creating a calm, structured, and nurturing classroom environment Working collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families Using trauma-informed and sensory strategies to support learning and wellbeing We are looking for a patient, resilient, and emotionally intelligent teacher who is confident supporting vulnerable children and committed to inclusive practice.
