Discover a new kind of career in healthcare as a functional specialist
Are you working in healthcare, and looking for a change? If you're a nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD), occupational therapist, physiotherapist or paramedic, you could use your skills differently as an Assessment Specialist.
Our client provides unbiased, comprehensive assessments for claimants of the Government's disability allowance (Personal Independence Payment), over the phone, on a video call or in person, either at assessment centres or in claimants' homes. We seek individuals with compassion and experience to understand claimants' health conditions/disabilities and their impact. Great computer skills, impartiality, and strong time management are essential.
Day to Day
You will conduct initial reviews, paper-based, face-to-face, video or telephone assessments to evaluate how a claimant's health condition or disability affects their daily life.
The hybrid model means you'll work from home and be assigned to assessment centres on a rota basis for face-to-face assessments. You'll also spend time in centres or offices for meetings and training.
You will observe, report, analyze clinical information, and support evidence to create three detailed reports daily, supporting DWP decision-making.
Our Offer
This challenging role differs from traditional healthcare professions. Training is comprehensive, starting with a 12-week program (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm), with options for 3 or 4-day schedules. Support and mentorship are provided, especially in the first six months.
Starting salary is £38,500 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus a 5% retention bonus. Remote-approved status increases salary to £39,900 plus up to 10% bonus. Achieving face-to-face delivery increases it further to £41,500 plus up to 10% bonus.
