Postdoctoral Research Associate (Finland focused)
Package: Specialist and Supporting Academic Research grade 6, £35,608–£46,049 per annum, subject to annual pay review.
Institution: Loughborough University, School of Social Sciences and Humanities, Geography and Environment.
Contract: Full‑time, fixed term 42 months, starting 1 September 2026, hybrid.
We are seeking a Post‑Doctoral Research Associate to work on the project “Geographies of example: Finding the example within the exception and beyond (GeoEx)”, funded by the Leverhulme Trust Research Leadership Award.
Responsibilities
* Lead the design, execution, and dissemination of the research project.
* Conduct ethnographic research in Finland, and make short trips to the UK and Bangladesh.
* Perform and analyse semi‑structured interviews with protection seekers and/or marginalised communities.
* Collaborate across Geography, Sociology, Politics, and Anthropology teams.
Qualifications
Successful applicant will:
* Hold a PhD in Geography, Sociology, Politics, Anthropology, or a related discipline.
* Have excellent English language skills (additional languages desirable).
* Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Have experience in conducting and analysing semi‑structured interviews with protection seekers and/or marginalised communities.
