An opportunity has arisen in the Pharmacotherapy Team within NHS Borders for a dynamic, enthusiastic and self‑motivated Pharmacy Technician. This role supports the delivery of the primary care clinical pharmacy service and joins an established pharmacy team responsible for medicines management and pharmacy input to a range of primary care settings.
Responsibilities
* Work with Primary Care Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, GPs and other Health and Social Care Professionals to improve medicines management and deliver excellent patient care.
* Deliver the Pharmacotherapy service as part of the GMS contract, supporting patients with their medicines.
* Support the implementation of new and innovative ways of working and contribute to the continuous development of pharmacy staff roles.
* Participate in training, education and personal development activities as the service evolves.
Qualifications
* Excellent communication, negotiation, organisational and IT skills.
* Ability to influence and effect change.
* Relevant pharmacy experience.
* A qualified Pharmacy Technician registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The successful candidate will be based in the Pharmacy Hub at Newtown St Boswells. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week; part‑time hours may also be considered.

As from 1st April 2026 the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, but there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
