EIP is an exciting area to work in and is at the forefront of mental health research and aligned to deliver NICE concordant care for First Episode Psychosis.
To be considered for this post you will need to be a registered nurse, occupational therapist or social worker and have experience of working in multi‑disciplinary teams who care for adults within mental health secondary care sector.
You will have experience of working in community mental health and ideally have knowledge and experience of the Early Intervention in Psychosis model of care.
We are looking for a candidate with robust clinical expertise who is also able to demonstrate progressive skills in leadership and service development.
The role will involve team management with an emphasis on management and oversight of the team’s physical health targets for patients.
Main Duties of the Job
The post-holder will be required to work within the multidisciplinary team structure of the EIS to provide creative contact and support to young service users between the age of 14-35 years of age, who experience a first psychotic episode.
The post holder will have a small caseload and take responsibility for the day‑to‑day coordination of the multi‑disciplinary team clinical activities; ensuring that clinical priorities are set, highest standard of care is maintained and the team caseload are regularly reviewed.
Successful candidate will be required to supervise and support members of the clinical staff and provide useful resource or expertise on care coordination responsibilities and other aspects of day‑to‑day clinical operations of the service including statutory requirements/duties and complex care issues.

Job Description And Main Responsibilities
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical
* Support the delivery of high‑quality, person‑centred care for individuals experiencing a first episode of psychosis, ensuring care is responsive to their health, social and cultural needs
* Support with coordinating the day‑to‑day clinical operations of the Early Intervention Service, ensuring safe, effective and efficient service delivery.
* Provide clinical leadership and oversight to care coordinators, supporting assessment, care planning and risk assessment.
* Review and oversee comprehensive assessments, risk assessments and care plans
* Lead and coordinate referrals and allocations, ensuring timely triage, screening, and communication of outcomes
* Ensure effective management of patient flow through the service, including timely admissions, transfers and safe discharge planning in line with service and Trust requirements
* Promote and develop innovative approaches to engagement, assessment and treatment for individuals experiencing first episode psychosis.
* Ensure service users, families and carers are actively involved in care planning
* Oversee the implementation of Dialog+ and meaningful care coordination.
* Undertake and support complex risk assessments and management plans in accordance with Trust policies, safeguarding requirements and best practice guidance.
* Lead or co‑chair multidisciplinary clinical review meetings alongside the Team Manager
* Ensure clinical records are accurate, timely and compliant with Trust standards, maintaining oversight of documentation quality through regular audits and governance processes.
* Monitor and improve compliance with clinical standards, performance indicators and quality requirements across the service.
* Support the Team Manager in the supervision, development, and performance management of staff including undertaking regular supervision, appraisal and competency assessments where appropriate

Education And Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Qualified and professionally Registered health or social care professional – RMN, OT, Social Worker
* Evidence of significant post Registration education and training related to this post
* Mentorship in Practice / Practice Teacher Award or equivalent
Desirable criteria
* A management qualification, course or similar
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
Essential criteria
* Skills in leadership, ability to motivate others, use own initiative and manage and support change
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Evidence of being competent in using IT – word, Outlook/email, excel and databases
* An understanding of the principles and evidence base for Early Intervention in Psychosis
* Can demonstrate an understanding of psychosis and its impact on service users and carers
* Skills in psychosocial interventions
* Skills in formal and informal risk assessment and management
* Knowledge of current legislation/guidelines related to this client group
* Can demonstrate an understanding of the needs of particular groups e.g. young people; black and minority ethnic groups; residents of the inner city, and also how to engage with them
Experience
Essential criteria
* Post qualification experience of managing people.
* Evidence of post‑qualification experience working with people with serious mental health problems
* Community experience of working in a multi‑disciplinary team, as a care co‑ordinator
* Management experience in a multi‑disciplinary Team
* Evidence of active participation in service planning and development.
* Supervisory experience of junior staff and students
* Using psycho‑social interventions
* Evidence of working with families
* Participating in quality initiatives, e.g. audits, benchmarking
* Evidence of experience in developing care programmes and care plans using the Care Programme Approach
