In your role as a Kitchen Assistant at HC-One, you'll value one thing above all: kindness. It influences every aspect of our Dementia, Nursing, Residential, and Specialist care homes. Everyone here understands that our Residents are individuals with their own stories, just like you. By joining HC-One, you'll have a wonderful opportunity to give back to those people.
Your responsibilities will include helping to prepare and serve nutritious, healthy meals that residents will love. You'll uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety, and hygiene. Whether maintaining food supplies and fridge/freezer temperatures, training new staff on equipment, or cleaning spills, you'll always prioritize Resident wellbeing.
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant with some kitchen experience, but what matters most is that you have either an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or the willingness to study for one. Good record-keeping and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to follow recipes. You should communicate considerately and kindly with Residents and colleagues.
Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility. You should be able to recognize signs of abuse, harm, or neglect and know how to act if concerns arise. All staff are required to attend safeguarding training relevant to their role and to undertake additional training as needed. You should also be proactive in seeking advice and reporting concerns, including escalation if necessary.
We will provide full training, offering a great opportunity to learn new skills. In return, you'll enjoy a wide range of benefits and support for your physical and psychological wellbeing. Throughout your career as a Kitchen Assistant, we will invest in you, providing additional support and benefits such as:
* Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications.
* Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG check.
* Free uniform.
* A nutritious meal during shifts of eight hours or more.
* Company pension scheme.
* 28 days annual leave, including bank holidays.
* Group life assurance cover.
* Wagestream - flexible access to your earned wages.
* Award-winning training and development, including opportunities to achieve qualifications.
* GP online - 24/7 virtual GP consultations for you and your children under 16.
* Learning from experienced colleagues as part of a dedicated team.
* Colleague discounts at over 1600 high street stores.
* Wellbeing support through a free Employee Assistance Programme, available 24/7 for physical, mental, and financial issues.
* Recognition schemes such as 'Kindness in Care' and Long Service Awards.
* Refer a friend scheme offering up to £1000 per successful referral.
We are committed to fostering an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and aim for a quick onboarding process from offer to start date.
