Job Purpose:
We are hiring Shift Production Technicians for our asset scheduled to begin operation in mid-2026. As a Technician at Carrington Renewable Power Station, you will ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our assets, following operational and commercial procedures to maximize value within legal requirements.
This role offers a unique opportunity to operate the world’s largest Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES) asset, with comprehensive training provided on instrumentation and control systems, and to join a business at the forefront of the energy transition.
Key Activities:
* Promote a culture of health, safety, and environmental awareness, seeking safety improvements.
* Perform routine plant operations as required.
* Operate within delegated authority levels.
* Manage safety rules and procedures.
* Optimize plant availability and performance.
* Identify opportunities for performance improvements.
* Interface effectively with external stakeholders such as Energy Trading and ESO.
* Respond to plant failures promptly.
* Undertake first-line maintenance and investigations, subject to training and competence.
* Create job plans, risk assessments, and method statements for maintenance and operations.
* Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Plant Manager.
* Focus on improving asset operation.
* Report defects and initiate responses and remedial actions.
* Enact roles such as Permit Authoriser, Permit Engineer, and other safety roles.
* Initiate site emergency actions as per the emergency plan.

The initial employment period will focus on training and preparation for asset go-live in mid-2026.
This role involves working a 24/7 shift pattern, including weekends, nights, and bank holidays.
Requirements:
* Educated to BTEC ONC Level or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Educated to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical or Control & Instrumentation.
* Practical experience in electrical and/or control and instrumentation fault finding.
* Understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
* Strong safety awareness and ability to promote safety culture.
* Ability to understand and retain policies and procedures.
* Confidence to challenge practices and suggest solutions.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Flexibility, initiative, self-motivation, and enthusiasm.
* Ability to build rapport with stakeholders.
* Analytical skills to evaluate situations and data.
* Understanding of customer expectations and market impact.
* Knowledge of Highview Power and the UK energy market.
* Ability to attain Permit Engineer and Permit Authoriser designations.
* Willingness to engage across functions to support Net Zero goals.
* Extensive knowledge of power station or cryogenic plant operations, maintenance, and safety standards.
* Experience in power plant maintenance and operations, including cryogenic equipment.
* Understanding of maintenance and operational strategies.
* Knowledge of performance improvement routines and compliance.
* Motivated to make a difference.
