Senior Supply Chain Engineer
Location: Bedford, UK (with international travel)
Salary: Circa £65,000 per annum + bonus and excellent benefits

The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Senior Supply Chain Engineer to strengthen quality standards across our global supplier network.
This is a pivotal role within a growing £65m international business, combining engineering expertise with strong documentation and quality governance. You will ensure that supplier processes, quality systems, and controls are clearly defined, implemented, and consistently maintained.
The company works with approximately 440 suppliers across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, providing a diverse and challenging supply chain environment. This position offers the chance to improve supplier capability, implement structured quality frameworks, and drive continuous improvement across an international network.
The role involves approximately 20% international travel, including occasional visits of up to two weeks, to work directly with suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Chain Quality Management
* Drive continuous improvement across the global supplier network
* Identify supply chain risks and quality issues, leading initiatives to resolve them
* Develop and implement supplier quality procedures, policies, and documentation
Supplier Performance & Development
* Work closely with suppliers to enhance capability, efficiency, and quality performance
* Monitor supplier performance metrics and support improvement plans where needed
* Build strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
Supplier Auditing & Compliance
* Conduct supplier audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and business expectations
* Support suppliers in implementing corrective actions and improvement plans post-audit
* Ensure supplier processes align with company quality requirements
Quality Systems & Governance
* Establish and maintain structured quality documentation across the supply chain
* Implement and embed quality control policies within supplier operations
* Support internal teams to maintain consistent quality standards
International Supplier Engagement
Travel to supplier sites to support audits, quality reviews, and improvement initiatives
Requirements
We are seeking someone with a strong background in supplier quality or supply chain engineering, confident in implementing quality systems and processes within a manufacturing environment.
You will likely have:
* Experience in supplier quality engineering, quality engineering, or supply chain quality within manufacturing
* Experience conducting supplier audits and managing corrective action processes
* A solid understanding of quality management systems and process improvement
* Excellent attention to detail, particularly with documentation and quality procedures
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams
* A proactive, solutions-focused approach
* Degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality, or related discipline is desirable, though equivalent experience will also be considered
