Position Description: If you’re a Service Designer who shapes how services work end-to-end and applies user-centred practices to influence decisions and outcomes, we want to hear from you. You’ll join a growing team of specialists working closely with UK government clients. As a Senior Service Designer, you will help teams define the right problems to solve and creating services that meet real needs while working within policy, operational and technical constraints. This work supports public services with clear purpose and real world impact. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. You must be based in the UK with the ability to travel to client site as needed. Your future duties and responsibilities: As a Service Designer at CGI, you’ll lead service design activity across government programmes and services. You’ll use design to frame problems, shape service direction and support teams to make informed decisions based on evidence. Key duties include: • Leading end-to-end service design across digital and non-digital service steps • Working closely with user researchers, content designers, interaction designers, product managers, policy teams and delivery colleagues • Using research and evidence to understand user needs, identify service problems and challenge assumptions • Designing future state services that consider people, process, policy, technology and delivery constraints • Mapping and designing complex service ecosystems across channels, touchpoints and actors • Creating service blueprints, journey maps and other service models to support decision making • Using prototypes, storyboards and walkthroughs to explore, test and iterate service ideas • Working to the GOV.UK service manual, service standards and agile delivery phases • Ensuring services meet accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 AA • Facilitating co-creation with team members, stakeholders and service users • Communicating service concepts clearly through visualisation and storytelling • Presenting design work to stakeholders and explaining how it meets user needs, policy intent and regulatory requirements • Influencing teams and stakeholders to adopt a user-centred approach to service design • Supporting continuous improvement by using data, feedback and insight to refine services over time Required qualifications to be successful in this role: You should have experience working as a Service Designer within complex environments, with the ability to balance user needs, organisational goals, and technical constraints. You’ll be confident delivering discovery work and producing service design artefacts that inform strategic decisions. • Experience designing end-to-end services in complex environments • Knowledge of the GOV.UK design system, service manual, service standards and accessibility standards • Experience developing service visions, service models or future state designs • Ability to use research and evidence to inform design decisions • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain design thinking clearly • Confidence working independently and as part of multidisciplinary teams • Ability to influence stakeholders and advocate for user needs • Experience working with constraints and challenging them where appropriate • Comfort working in the open and responding to critique • Experience using data and feedback to support continuous improvement • Strong collaboration skills and experience co-creating solutions across teams LI-JW1 Skills: Service Design What you can expect from us: Together, as owners, let’s turn meaningful insights into action.
