Production Manager - Asphalt Plant Location: Tytherington Salary: Competitive Company Car The Production Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and cost‑effective day‑to‑day operation of the asphalt plant, working closely with Production Supervisors and Operators. The role focuses on planning and scheduling production to meet customer demand at the lowest possible cost and highest productivity, while maintaining product quality, safety standards and environmental compliance. The Production Manager will also plan and manage materials required to deliver these objectives. Key Accountabilities Safety & Compliance Ensure all production activities are planned and carried out safely, in line with company standards and procedures Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all safety, environmental and quality requirements are met Production Planning & Performance Plan and schedule production to meet customer volume demand Carry out weekly and monthly volume forecasting Monitor production performance using plant KPIs, identifying trends and improvement opportunities Ensure efficient plant operation through effective scheduling, stock control and maintenance planning Drive continuous improvement to reduce downtime through planned preventative maintenance Materials, Stock & Cost Control Monitor stocks, sales and production volumes Plan and manage raw material requirements to meet forecast demand Purchase fuel, bitumen and lubricants via company‑approved supply contracts Maintain effective stock control to minimise waste and inefficiency Customer & Stakeholder Liaison Liaise regularly with customers to manage demand and provide feedback Work closely with the Distribution team to ensure orders, deliveries and loading times are planned efficiently and correctly Carry out occasional customer visits as required Maintain regular communication with operators regarding orders, scheduling and customer information Liaise with internal departments with an interest in asphalt plant operations Quality & Issue Management Monitor product quality and production issues Identify, escalate and advise on issues relating to volume, quality, production or stock to relevant departments and management Ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly and effectively Administration & Reporting Complete general administrative tasks for the department, including: Purchase orders and PI/PO processing System updates (e.g. production and entropy information) Safety and compliance records Participate in the weekend duty rota as required General Responsibilities Undertake additional tasks or responsibilities as required to support business needs What We're Looking For Experience managing production in an asphalt, aggregates or heavy manufacturing environment Strong understanding of production planning, forecasting and KPI management Proven ability to manage safety, quality and productivity simultaneously Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with customers, operators and multiple internal teams Organised, proactive and commercially aware What We Offer Competitive salary A key leadership role within a well‑established operation Opportunities to influence plant performance and continuous improvement Why Join us?
