About the archive
The Hinton Admiral Estate has a private archive based at Hinton Admiral, the home of the Meyrick family. The archive documents the Estate's formation, and the urban development and wider history of West Hampshire. There are at present no plans or resources available to make this archive public facing.
The role
This is very much a working archive and the Archivist will work closely with the busy and friendly estate management teams at Hinton and in Bournemouth, as well as with Sir George W. Meyrick. The archive is held outside the Estate offices, so you will need the experience and confidence to work alone for long periods of time.
Activities will include:
* Physical archive management
* Accessing new information
* Supporting the development of the Estate's information management system
* Electronic record management
* Chattels management
* Research
Experience
Previous experience of having worked in an archive or library is essential.
Time commitment
This is very much a part time job and could be carried out 1 day/week or equivalent. That said, the Estate is open to a discussion on this issue.
