The Team
Consumer Products organization are responsible for providing direction for the development and implementation of the licensing strategy for the Mattel brands, finding opportunities to grow our brands beyond the core toy spaces they are rooted in. You’ll be joining the EMEA Consumer Products team in as Regional Softlines Associate. Based out of our Barcelona office, however with a flexible hybrid home/office working. You will report directly to the Manager, EMEA Consumer Products Regional Softlines Manager.
The Opportunity
You will manage key Soft-lines categories in line with global and regional brand & category priorities. You will manage the day-to-day licensing business relationships with key soft-lines partners, identify pitch and negotiate new business opportunities, and day to day liaison with internal & external stakeholders. Category leading and supporting for assigned categories, for EMEA. Categories include, but not limited to: Apparel, Home, Greetings, Gifting, Accessories and Health & Beauty.
What Your Impact Will Be:
1. Act as category lead for assigned partners in the region
2. Conduct quarterly business reviews and monthly track financial goals
3. Research, identify and pitch category/brand opportunities to current & prospective clients
4. Use data to provide insights on SL strategies to capture key market/categories trends
5. Secure new licensing deals and negotiate renewals
6. Negotiate deal terms and submit for legal drafting ensuring all relevant approvals have been gathered and all information required is present and correct
7. Liaise with the legal team and licensee on contract drafting
8. Work closely with the Product Development, Creative and Quality & Assurance teams on getting first-class products to market
9. Work closely with Marketing, Digital, PR, teams to develop joint business plans.
10. Implement marketing and promotional strategies in liaison with internal & external stakeholders
11. Gather and share category best practice from across the EMEA region with local teams
12. Help find innovative ways to grow the business
13. Attend Trade Fairs or category-specific shows
What We’re Looking For:
14. 2+ years and areas of experience in licensing or retail
15. Degree in Marketing or business or similar or equivalent experience
16. Personable, enthusiastic, and confident, able to build good relationships
17. Must have passion for product development, a creative eye
18. Demonstrate awareness of current market trends and an interest in consumer products
19. Must be commercially aware
20. Effective negotiation and good presentation skills
21. Excellent organization and communication, with a strong attention to detail
22. Excellent project management skills.
23. Good numeracy skills.
24. Strong ability to multi-task.
25. Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
26. Team player, flexible, pro-active, and self-motivated with the desire to help drive the business forward
