About the job:
As a Legal Counsel in our UK Retirement legal team, you’ll provide legal advice and support on a broad range of matters, helping Aviva’s Bulk and Individual Annuity, Equity Release, and Investments business teams navigate complex regulations and strategic initiatives. Your responsibilities include drafting and negotiating contracts related to new business and distribution, advising on legal risks, and collaborating with colleagues across the legal function and wider business. The role also involves tracking legal developments affecting our industry and working closely with senior legal leaders to manage key risks.
Skills and experience required:
* Qualified Solicitor or CILEX, authorized to practice in the UK.
* Knowledge of pensions, annuities, and/or equity release (desirable but not essential).
* Strong project management, contract negotiation, and stakeholder collaboration skills.
* Commercial mindset with a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
What you’ll get in this role:
* Salary: National circa £55,000 - £60,000 / London circa £75,000 - £80,000 (depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications).
* Bonus opportunity: 10% of annual salary, based on performance and company results.
