Position: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Primary School – West Sussex Area
Contract Type: Fixed Term / Temporary
Working Pattern: Term Time Only, 5 Days per Week
Hours: To be confirmed (typically around 6-7 hours per day)
Salary: Competitive Grade / Scale depending on experience
Role Overview
An inclusive primary school is seeking a compassionate and reliable Learning Support Assistant to provide targeted support to pupils with additional needs, including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). You will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCo to help pupils access the curriculum and fully participate in school life. This temporary role is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive team and contribute to pupil development in a nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual pupil needs.
* Assist pupils with special educational, emotional, and social needs.
* Implement targets from individual education plans (IEPs) in liaison with teaching staff.
* Support pupils to engage in class activities and promote independence.
* Assist with preparing and adapting learning materials.
* Contribute to monitoring and recording pupil progress.
* Work collaboratively as part of the school team to foster an inclusive environment.
Candidate Requirements
* Experience working with children in an educational support role preferred.
* Good understanding of additional needs including SEND.
* Patient, resilient, and positive with excellent interpersonal skills.
* Ability to use initiative and work both independently and as part of a team.
* Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEND support desirable.
