Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The successful candidate may be appointed to any subspecialty firm except Vascular Surgery, with the option to express preference at interview.
The role involves supporting planned day case and inpatient care at Wycombe General Hospital and centralised surgical trauma and emergencies at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Key duties include:
* Managing elective inpatients at Wycombe Hospital.
* Participating in operating sessions and outpatient work at Wycombe and Amersham Hospitals.
* Providing acute surgical patient care at Stoke Mandeville during on‑call periods.
* Acting as the senior surgical opinion on site.
Person specification
* MB ChB or equivalent.
* MRCS/FRCS, ATLS.
* Completion of Foundation Year 1‑2 equivalent.
* Experience at Senior CT level of General Surgery in relevant specialties.
* Ability to manage surgical patients and provide senior surgical opinion.
* Strong audit, clinical governance and NHS clinical experience at minimum Foundation Level.
* Special clinical interest in breast or GI.
* Full GMC registration with licence to practice in the UK.
* Ability to travel across multiple hospital sites.
* Holder of a UK driver’s licence and own vehicle access.
Skills, knowledge & personal attributes

* Communicate and work with specialist surgical team.
* Leadership and management skills.
* Flexible working to cover duties.
* Strong IT skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
