Finance Director | PE-Backed Business | Birmingham
Salary £125,000 - £150,000 plus bonus of up to 60%
We are excited to be recruiting for a highly commercial Finance Director to join a profitable, private equity-backed business in Birmingham (equity available).
We are seeking a Finance Director to join a successful, high growth company as a Statutory Board member. Whilst fostering a high performance culture, the company is also proud of its ongoing commitment to the training, development and retention of its people adopting a strong collaborative ethos.
This role is designed for progression, with a clear pathway to CFO as the business prepares for a likely transaction in 2027/28. With dual reporting lines into the business (COO) and PE firm, you'll gain invaluable experience participating in this process, to include investor pitches, and attending potential investor interviews. Previous experience of a sale/transaction process is not necessary given the COO's weight of experience in this area so this would suit an ambitious commercial FD who has worked in agile, high paced environments with a particular focus on commercial finance.
Summary;
You will be comfortable mentoring team members and working with them on the day to day detail where needed but also able to step back and drive financial strategy, partnering directly with the CEO and Exec Team to ensure the Company's ambitious growth targets are achieved. You will have worked extensively with both internal and external senior stakeholders and possess exceptional presentation skills, assuming natural presence and gravitas.
Overview Of Responsibilities:
Management; Lead and develop the small, high performing finance team (direct reports; FC, FBP and FM) to foster a culture of best practice. Whilst commercially astute, you will have a pro-active, hands- on approach to continuous improvement.
Drive commercial value: You will be naturally analytical in your approach to data and be able to spot trends and drive reporting insights. You will be adept at using these financial insights to help inform commercial decisions, simplifying and translating it to a non-finance audience.
Strategic Board Partner: You'll provide critical financial insights to the Board, challenging where necessary, to help shape the overall strategy and allow the business to achieve ambitious yet sustainable growth.
Experience required;
Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a proven track record as a commercial Finance Director or similar senior commercial finance role.
You will have worked in a variety of sized organisations and be used to agile, fast paced environments.
Extensive senior stakeholder and board experience is essential.
Strong leadership and team management skills
A proactive and commercial mindset, with a passion for adding tangible value.
The ability to balance strategic thinking with a hands-on approach.
