Lecturer in Craft - Postgraduate Studies Salary: Band 7 - £7,226 (FTE £36,130) Hours: 7.4 hours per week (1 day per week on Wednesdays) Contract Type: Fixed Term - 12 month career break absence cover Closing date: 14th November Arts University Plymouth is seeking a dynamic and committed Lecturer to join our postgraduate teaching team. This role is an exciting opportunity for a creative academic professional who is passionate about innovative teaching, interdisciplinary learning, and student success. The role is responsible for teaching MA students across multiple design and craft-focused programmes. You'll deliver subject-specific seminars and tutorials within a shared postgraduate curricular framework, supporting student-led projects and interdisciplinary learning. We’re looking for a candidate with creative and professional expertise in contemporary craft and material-led practices—such as ceramics, glass, wood, biomaterials, or other natural/synthetic materials—who can contribute to both practice and critical discourse in the field. About You: You will have proven experience in Higher Education teaching, in contemporary craft,, ceramics, glass, biomaterials or a related, materially-led creative practice You will hold in-depth understanding of the creative and craft industries, with the ability to apply theory to practice You’ll have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with students, colleagues, and external partners You will hold a minimum of an MA level qualification. If you have experience with techniques in ceramics, hot glass, or biomaterials this would be advantageous. About The Role: Deliver high-quality postgraduate teaching, feedback, and assessment across subject-specific and cross-disciplinary Units/Seminars. Lead assigned Units, including planning, scheduling, delivery, and assessment, while maintaining accurate and timely reporting. Foster innovative and inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement, progression, and achievement.
