The Role

Amber Labs is looking for a Senior Delivery Manager to provide account-wide delivery and engagement leadership across a strategically important UK Government account. The role oversees multiple service lines including Testing, Service Design and Business Analysis, ensuring delivery is well governed, commercially controlled and consistently aligned to client outcomes.


You will operate across delivery leadership, client engagement, commercial management, governance, managed service performance and account growth, working closely with the Account Director, internal capability leads, delivery teams and the client side PMO.


We are looking for a leader with experience in complex technology and managed service environments, ideally within UK Government or similarly regulated sectors, with enough technical delivery credibility to engage across solution, service design, transition and delivery conversations.


What You Will Own:

Senior Delivery and Engagement Leadership

* Provide senior leadership across multiple delivery streams, ensuring work is aligned, well governed and delivered to agreed client outcomes.
* Lead across Testing, Service Design and associated technology delivery activity, ensuring consistency of approach and quality.
* Act as the senior escalation point for delivery risks, service issues, client concerns and cross stream dependencies.
* Create a clear account-wide view of delivery health, covering progress, blockers, risks, resourcing and client sentiment.
* Provide visible leadership across the account, building confidence with client stakeholders and internal leadership alike.


Managed Services, Transition and Service Optimisation

* Lead or oversee managed service delivery including mobilisation, transition, steady-state delivery and ongoing optimisation.
* Ensure services are delivered in line with agreed SLAs, KPIs, governance processes and contractual expectations.
* Drive continuous improvement across the account, turning lessons learned into practical service improvements.
* Support the evolution of the service model as the account scales, matures or changes.


Client and Stakeholder Leadership

* Operate credibly with senior client stakeholders, providing confidence, transparency and proactive leadership.
* Build trusted relationships across client delivery, PMO, operational and leadership teams.
* Translate delivery detail, risks and trade-offs into concise executive-level updates and clear recommendations.
* Represent Amber Labs professionally in governance forums, service reviews, steering meetings and account reviews.


Commercial and Contractual Management

* Maintain strong awareness of the commercial position across the account, including utilisation, margin, scope and change control.
* Work with the Account Director to identify and manage risks relating to scope creep, underperformance and unplanned effort.
* Ensure delivery decisions are commercially sound and aligned to Amber Labs account objectives.
* Identify opportunities for account growth through strong delivery performance and trusted client relationships.


Solution, Service Design and Technical Oversight

* Provide senior oversight from solution and service design through to delivery execution and service operation.
* Work with technical, testing, service design and delivery leads to ensure solutions are practical, deliverable and aligned to client needs.
* Challenge delivery approaches where needed, protecting quality, scalability, service performance and commercial viability.
* Ensure proposed delivery models are realistic, supportable and aligned to contractual and client expectations.


Governance, Assurance and Delivery Discipline

* Work closely with the client PMO and internal leadership to ensure smooth operational processes and compliance with agreed governance.
* Ensure reporting, timesheets, forecasts, RAID logs and delivery documentation are completed accurately and on time.
* Maintain strong oversight of delivery controls without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
* Ensure risks, issues and resourcing pressures are escalated early and managed through clear recovery or mitigation plans.


What We Are Looking For:

Essential

* Experience leading complex delivery across multiple workstreams, service lines or multidisciplinary teams in a consultancy, technology supplier or managed services environment.
* Strong experience delivering into UK Government, public sector or other highly regulated environments.
* Demonstrable managed services experience including mobilisation, transition, steady-state delivery and continuous service improvement.
* Strong commercial awareness covering scope management, margin, utilisation and change control.
* Credible senior stakeholder management skills, with confidence operating at client leadership and executive level.
* A technical background or strong technical delivery understanding, with the ability to engage across solution, service design, testing and technology delivery.
* Strong governance, risk management and service performance management experience.


Desirable

* Experience working in a digital, data, AI or cloud consultancy.
* Experience supporting or leading delivery across major UK Government accounts.
* Familiarity with GDS-aligned delivery, public sector frameworks and government governance expectations.
* Exposure to Testing services, Service Design, Business Analysis and business change activity.
* Familiarity with agile, hybrid and service-centric delivery models.
