Applications are invited for an OpenSAFELY Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) Manager (Talking Therapies) to work with a team in the Bennett Institute for Applied Data Science on the implementation of the OpenSAFELY Talking Therapies programme.
We provide the NHS England OpenSAFELY Service, offering secure research access to GP data. We have recently secured a significant, multi-year contract with the Wellcome Trust to develop and operate a new OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies service.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring patient and public engagement as we expand the service and its scope to include more health conditions.
The NHS England OpenSAFELY Service is supported by a mature Public Advisory Group (the Digital Critical Friends, DCFs), which is independently chaired and advises on developments within the OpenSAFELY tools and service. The post holder will collaborate closely with this group to develop a PPIE plan for the OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies service, including setting up a dedicated Experience-led Public Advisory Group with individuals having lived experience of NHS Talking Therapies services, organizing community engagement events, and co-creating communication materials.
You will be responsible for developing and implementing the OpenSAFELY-Talking Therapies PPIE plans, supporting the NHS England OpenSAFELY service PPIE strategies, and representing the Bennett Institute to advocate for the importance of PPI. Additionally, you will support the development and delivery of the Bennett Institute's stakeholder involvement and engagement strategy.
Candidates should have direct experience in coordinating patient and public involvement and engagement or co-production initiatives in health research or service settings. Strong advocacy, diplomacy, and excellent communication skills are essential.
