Role: Data & Reporting Systems Lead
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid – 2 Days In-Office Weekly)
Salary: £47,000 – £56,500
Contract: Fixed Term – 12 months
Network IT are supporting a leading institution in the search for a Data & Reporting Systems Lead to join their one of their Core Systems team. This is a senior specialist role, responsible for shaping reporting strategy, driving data integrity, and leading projects that enhance insight and decision-making across the organisation.
As the authoritative expert for Oracle-based reporting and data governance, you’ll provide technical leadership, influence senior stakeholders, and deliver solutions that underpin critical academic, administrative, and business operations.

Role Overview and Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll take ownership of reporting and data systems, ensuring they meet strategic priorities and operational needs. You’ll lead projects, optimise reporting processes, and act as a trusted advisor on data governance and security.
* Develop, maintain, and optimise Oracle OTBI and BI Publisher reports to support diverse business requirements.
* Design and deploy data and reporting solutions that improve insight and decision-making.
* Write and troubleshoot advanced SQL queries for reporting, analytics, and integrations.
* Lead institution-wide BI system enhancements and reporting projects.
* Manage user roles, permissions, and access controls across Oracle systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and security principles.
* Oversee data security practices, monitoring and implementing proactive controls.
* Produce technical documentation, user guides, and training materials to build internal capability.
* Contribute to the development of institutional data strategy and governance frameworks.
Experience Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should bring:
* Proven experience with BI reporting tools, ideally Oracle OTBI and BI Publisher.
* Strong SQL skills for analysis, reporting, and integration.
* Expertise in managing data governance, user access, and security models.
* Experience leading complex data and reporting projects with organisation-wide impact.
* Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-specialists and senior stakeholders.
* Strong problem-solving skills and innovative thinking for system improvements.
* Organisational and leadership skills to balance strategic planning with operational delivery.
