Teaching Personnel is thrilled to announce an excellent full-time opportunity for a passionate Food Technology Teacher at an Ofsted Good, diverse secondary school in Denton. This role commences in September and spans the full academic year, with the potential for a permanent position based on performance. The pay for this role is in line with PayScale (£30,000 - £46,525).
Role Overview:
As a Food Technology Teacher, you will inspire students to explore and develop their culinary skills and knowledge. You will be responsible for delivering engaging and dynamic Food Technology lessons that foster a love for the subject and help students understand the importance of nutrition, food science, and healthy eating habits.
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver comprehensive Food Technology lessons that
align with the national curriculum, addressing the diverse learning needs and abilities of students.
* Practical Skills Development: Teach students essential culinary skills, food preparation techniques, and safety practices in the kitchen, ensuring they can apply their knowledge in real-life contexts.
* Nutritional Education: Educate students on the principles of nutrition, healthy eating, and the impact of diet on overall health, encouraging them to make informed food choices.
* Innovative Teaching: Utilize a variety of teaching methods, including hands-on cooking activities, demonstrations, and multimedia resources, to engage students and enhance their learning experience.
* Assessment and Feedback: Regularly assess students' progress through practical assessments, written assignments, and projects, providing constructive feedback to promote their growth and achievement.
* Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring all students adhere to health and safety regulations during practical sessions.
* Extracurricular Activities: Organize and participate in food-related extracurricular activities, such as cooking clubs, competitions, and school events, to further students' interest and skills in food technology.
* Professional Development: Stay current with developments in food technology education and culinary trends, participating in professional development opportunities and collaborating with colleagues to enhance teaching practices.
Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification with a specialism in Food Technology.
* Passion for teaching food technology and a commitment to inspiring and
motivating students.
* Strong knowledge of the food technology curriculum and experience in delivering high-quality lessons.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and colleagues.
* Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of all students.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with current educational practices and culinary trends.
