Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and knowledgeable individual to join us as a Strength and Conditioning Coach to work with McLaren Racing employees.
This role is part-time, around 25 hours per week, with flexibility to cover other team members on leave.
Based at the McLaren Technology Centre, our new onsite Health & Human Performance Centre aims to enhance health and wellbeing across the team, supporting our goal to become a world championship-winning team. The facility is designed to support all levels of fitness and wellbeing.
Reporting directly to the Head of Physiotherapy and Human Performance, the S&C coach should have a passion for fitness and health, with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide employees towards their fitness goals and overall health improvements. The successful candidate must have proven experience as an S&C coach, including designing and delivering coach-led strength and conditioning and fitness classes. They will also assist in the day-to-day operation of the gym.
Role Dimensions:
* Deliver exceptional strength and conditioning support and group fitness classes to McLaren Racing employees.
* Assist in delivering the corporate wellbeing strategy by providing health and fitness advice.
* Contribute to the daily administration and safe operation of the gym.
Key Accountabilities
* Deliver strength and conditioning classes in the MPH.
* Instruct and guide members on the correct use of gym equipment to ensure safety.
* Lead group fitness classes, including strength training, HIIT, circuit training, Hyrox, and Spin.
* Support members in achieving their fitness goals with motivation and feedback.
* Promote safe exercise techniques to minimize injury risk.
* Monitor and track progress, adjusting exercises as needed.
* Stay updated with the latest fitness trends and research.
* Maintain a clean and organized gym environment.
* Assist with gym promotions, events, and other duties as assigned.
* Support the implementation of scientifically designed strength and conditioning programs for injury prevention and rehabilitation.
Job requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
* Bachelor’s degree in Sports and Exercise Science, Physical Education, or related field (essential).
* MSc in Strength and Conditioning (desirable).
* Certified Yoga or Pilates instructor (desirable).
* Experience as a gym instructor or strength and conditioning coach in a gym and sports environment (essential).
* Qualified Spin instructor (desirable).
* Strength & Conditioning certification (UKSCA or CSCS) or working towards it (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of exercise physiology, anatomy, and techniques (essential).
* Effective communication and motivation skills for all fitness levels (essential).
* Excellent interpersonal skills to build rapport and trust (essential).
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* CPR and First Aid certification (desirable).
* Passion for health, fitness, and helping others (essential).
* Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, in a gym environment with equipment, music, and temperature variations.
