Teaching Personnel is working in partnership with a secondary school in Durham to appoint a creative, enthusiastic, and dedicated Art and Design Teacher for a September 2025 start. This is an exciting opportunity to make a lasting impact by nurturing artistic talent and encouraging self-expression in young people.
About the Role:
As the Art and Design Teacher, your responsibilities will include:
* Delivering imaginative and engaging Art and Design lessons to students in Key Stages 3 and 4
* Fostering creativity, critical thinking, and technical skills across a range of artistic disciplines
* Planning and delivering schemes of work aligned with the national curriculum
* Introducing students to a variety of media, including drawing, painting, sculpture, and digital art
* Supporting GCSE students in preparing portfolios and achieving assessment goals
* Collaborating with colleagues in the Creative Arts department and contributing to wider school events such as exhibitions and art clubs
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
* Plus a degree in Art, Fine Art, Design, or a closely related creative subject
* A passion for inspiring creativity and confidence in young artists
* Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities
* Experience delivering both practical and theoretical art content

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
