Role
As a Recovery Handler, you will be responsible for managing and processing non-fault motor claims from first notification through to settlement. This includes assessing liability, reviewing supporting evidence, and pursuing recovery of losses from third-party insurers. Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills are essential to ensure efficient resolution and high standards of customer service.
What will your working week be like?
Key Responsibilities
* Manage a caseload of motor recovery claims from initial instruction to conclusion.
* Assess liability based on accident reports, witness statements, and other evidence.
* Pursue recovery of costs including vehicle repair, total loss, hire, recovery, and storage.
* Evaluate claims for liability, quantum, and recovery prospects.
* Draft and issue Letters of Claim, negotiating settlements in line with protocols.
* Communicate effectively with third-party insurers, solicitors, brokers, and clients.
* Maintain accurate records and updates in case management systems.
* Keep clients informed of progress and manage expectations throughout the claims process.
* Ensure all actions comply with internal procedures, legal protocols, and regulatory requirements.
* Deliver a high level of customer service in all interactions.
Essential Skills and Experience
* At least 1 year experience in claims handling, debt recovery, or a similar legal/insurance environment.
* Strong understanding of motor insurance claims and the non-fault recovery process.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills — both written and verbal.
* Confidence in assessing liability and evidential strength.
* Ability to manage a busy caseload with attention to detail and time management.
* Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a team.
* Professional, customer-focused approach.
