Maintenance Fitter – Chipping Sodbury (Wickwar Road)
Hours: 45 per week
Salary: Competitive
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a background in working with static plant or within heavy industrial, quarrying, or manufacturing environments. Based at our Chipping Sodbury site on Wickwar Road, this key role is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and repair of fixed plant equipment to support the site's overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair static plant machinery safely, efficiently, and in line with manufacturer and Heidelberg Materials standards.
* Carry out planned maintenance, inspections, greasing, cleaning and general upkeep of static plant equipment.
* Complete daily inspection sheets and maintain accurate maintenance records as required by management.
* Identify, report and escalate plant defects or issues to the line manager, supervisor, or chargehand.
* Complete near-miss reports in accordance with site safety procedures.
* Operate plant and machinery safely and in an energy-efficient manner.
* Operate, inspect, and maintain crushing and screening plants to support site productivity targets.
* Perform plant start-up and shutdown procedures and optimise throughput within plant capacity.
* Maintain plant cleanliness in line with site and management standards.
* Demonstrate good timekeeping and a proactive approach to tasks.
* Provide flexibility to support nearby Heidelberg Materials sites as required. Transport or travel allowances may be provided for sites located beyond normal commuting distance.
About You
* Experience working with static plant or in a heavy industrial, quarrying, or manufacturing environment.
* Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
* A commitment to safety, quality, and high operational standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
