Overview

Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor Experimental Condensed Matter Physics – UNSW Canberra. Employment type: Full-time, 35 hours per week. Duration: Continuing. Remuneration: Level C from $155,403 / Level D from $185,917 plus 17% super. Location: UNSW Canberra, ADFA Campus.

Role overview

The School of Science at UNSW Canberra is seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the School and contribute to experimental condensed matter physics. The role combines research and teaching to make a meaningful impact, including curriculum design and course delivery, building a vibrant research portfolio, high-quality publications, grant applications, supervision of students, and participation in the administration and collegial life of the School. This position may be filled at Academic Level C (Senior Lecturer) or Level D (Associate Professor) depending on experience.


Responsibilities

* Contribute to curriculum design and course delivery in experimental condensed matter physics at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Develop and maintain an active research portfolio with high-quality publications and grant applications.
* Supervise students and recruit high-calibre researchers and students.
* Engage with the profession and industry to attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
* Contribute to the administration and collegial life of the School.


Qualifications

Senior Lecturer Level C
* A PhD in experimental condensed matter physics or a related discipline.
* Expertise in cryogenic techniques and performing measurements at low temperatures.
* Demonstrated track record in experimental condensed matter physics research.
* Ability to support and inspire students.
* Experience in teaching and learning design using diverse pedagogical approaches and in developing and delivering courses/programs at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Experience implementing educational technologies and online delivery methods.
* Experience in curriculum development and improvement.
* Experience recruiting and supervising high-caliber students.
* Ability to interact with the profession and industry and attract funding for learning and teaching initiatives.
Associate Professor Level D
* Demonstrated experience with industry or work-integrated learning.
* Evidence of professional development of teaching practice and ability to lead an inclusive culture of excellence in learning and teaching.
* Highly developed interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Significant track record in research leadership with high quality, internationally impactful outcomes, and continued commitment to research leadership.
* Leadership in building engagement and partnerships with the profession and industry.
