Thrive Personnel Ltd are recruiting a Materials \planner on behalf of our food manufacturing client based in South Elmsall.
The Raw Materials Planner is responsible for producing clear, accurate, and concise raw material production plans for their allocated protein category. The role requires responding proactively to logistical challenges and evolving production requirements to ensure that production targets are consistently achieved while minimising waste and losses.
Key Responsibilities
The Raw Materials Planner will oversee the planning function for their allocated protein, ensuring that both fresh and frozen raw materials are ordered in line with production requirements. This includes processing requests for increases or decreases in material volumes in a timely and efficient manner, while maintaining strong communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
The role involves identifying and communicating any supply shortages or intake issues that may impact production. Where raw materials require dicing, the Planner will coordinate the blast freezing process with relevant stakeholders both on and off site, ensuring materials are frozen appropriately and available when required. Detailed production plans must be provided to facilitate the timely dicing of frozen materials and maintain operational flow.
The Planner is also responsible for calculating and planning daily raw materials to be returned to site via backload, as well as conducting daily checks and reviews of short shelf-life materials to minimise waste. Confirming receipt of purchase orders with suppliers and following up on outstanding items is essential to maintaining supply continuity.
In addition, the role includes booking frozen stock into a local third-party storage facility and ensuring timely dispatch or recall as required. The Raw Materials Planner will act as a key point of contact for customers and other stakeholders, resolving queries at first point of contact where possible or escalating issues appropriately.
The Planner will provide support across the team during holidays and absences, assisting with planning responsibilities outside their allocated protein category when required. Working closely with the commercial department, the role also supports the provision of samples and materials for new product development.
A commitment to continuous improvement is essential, with the expectation that the Raw Materials Planner will identify and act on opportunities to enhance planning processes and systems. The role may also include undertaking additional duties as required to support the needs of the business.
