Patient Services Assistant (PSA)
To provide a full range of high quality direct patient support services throughout the Trust, ensuring the team’s quality standards and service delivery expectations are consistently achieved.
The PSA role was created within the Estates and Facilities Division to encompass a range of traditional ancillary support services, such as patient portering and domestic cleaning. Each PSA will be allocated to a Zone within the hospital and work closely with the shift supervisor, who delegates, supervises, and monitors the work outputs of a team of PSAs within a Zone.
Responsibilities
* Manage duties required under each shift and work efficiently to deliver the service without compromising on quality.
* Respond promptly to requests for deep cleans and isolation discharge cleans.
* Participate in service improvement events facilitated by the Division or the Trust and remain open‑mind when supporting change initiatives.
* Perform all allocated tasks within the allotted time while maintaining the quality standards set by the Division.
* Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment for the PSA and the zonal team.
* Adhere to hospital policies, guidelines, and relevant legislation, including Infection Control Policies and procedures.
* Ensure cleaning standards are maintained to reduce the risk of hospital‑acquired infections.
* Seek necessary information to perform the full job role competently and safely, being aware of associated risks and hazards.
* Report all incidents and injuries to the appropriate officer in a timely manner and in accordance with set procedures.
* Attend all mandatory training as scheduled and all other relevant training required by the job role.

Post holders are expected to work flexibly within their pay band and should only be expected to carry out activities for which they are competent. They may also carry out additional duties if they receive support or training to achieve the recognised level of competence.
