Summary
Freedom Electrical Design Services are currently recruiting a Substation Design Engineer to join our team. The Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for delivering the design of EHV, HV, and LV electrical substation projects both in the UK and internationally, meeting safety, quality, and environmental requirements.
The role will require travel to other Freedom offices and client site locations across the UK with overnight stays where necessary.
Key responsibilities include:
* Delivering substation primary plant and cable design projects with quality, timeliness, and profitability.
* Seeking innovative solutions to technical problems.
* Providing advice and designing for primary plant including transformers, GIS and AIS switchgear, cables, and all substation equipment up to 11kV and 400kV.
* Applying sound analytical and numeracy skills, including short-circuit forces calculation, cable rating calculations, short-circuit current calculations, and lightning protection calculations.
* Understanding interface requirements of civil/structural and OHL aspects of HV substations.
Qualifications and experience:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
* Knowledge of CAD.
* Knowledge of Substation Design.
* Full UK Driving license.
