Location
This role is based in Milford Haven. Team works on a two‑week on/off rotation with required on‑board duty during those weeks.
Your responsibilities
* Ensure all machinery is in top condition and operate it during vessel operations.
* Maintain safe operation of vessels, engines, generators, and associated machinery.
* Keep machinery (deck and engine) at operational standards.
* Keep machinery spaces clean, tidy, hazard‑free.
* Communicate breakdowns or faults to Master and Superintendent Engineer, coordinating repairs.
* Perform routine maintenance and execute Planned Maintenance System.
* Maintain adequate supplies of oils and bunkers.
* Conduct regular safety checks and report issues.
* Ensure compliance with company, MCA, and external guidelines.
* Supervise and train engineering staff.
* Assist in dry‑docking and survey planning.
* Maintain defect log and prioritize repairs.
* Collaborate with deck and engine teams.
* Engage in mandatory and professional development training.
* Adapt to additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
* STCW III/3 Chief Engineer
* All STCW basic training in date
* ENG1 Medical with at least 6 months until expiry
* Strong analytical skills and accurate reporting
* Expertise in fault diagnosis and machinery repair
* Proven leadership and team management
* Preferably experienced in harbour or terminal towage
* Strong administrative and computer skills
* Excellent communication skills
