Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Mental Health Support Worker to join the team at HMP Wymott, a Category C male prison located in Leyland. The prison has a capacity of around 1,100 and hosts a varied and complex population. This brand‑new role is part of a mental health team of approximately 15 staff. No two days are the same in this challenging, rewarding and supportive environment.
Hours and salary
Full‑time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8 am‑4 pm. Salary: £25,557 to £29,723 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities
* Work with mental health patients across the wings, looking after those with severe mental health issues, personality disorders, ADHD, learning disabilities, etc.
* Carry out physical health checks – bloods, physical observations, ECGs, weight checks, etc.
* Co‑facilitate groups, including psychology sessions such as ‘Making Sense’.
* Assist the nursing team and report findings and assessments.
* Ensure continuity of care for all patients, delivering outstanding care at all times.
* Contribute to and implement care packages, and assist with health promotion, wellbeing and clinics.
Qualifications and experience
* Ideally hold an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care.
* Experience within a mental health environment.
* Knowledge of mental health issues.
* Experience of ECGs and bloods, or willingness to undertake this training.
* Experience in a prison or secure setting or hospital is a bonus.
