Overview
We are recruiting a Metrology Technician who will be working closely with Moulding Toolroom and Quality Engineering. Metrology is the science of measurement and includes all theoretical and practical aspects of measurement. A Metrology Technician is responsible for identifying measurement needs and planning and performing measurement tasks using tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs. Daily tasks will include routine measurements of mould steel for PM and incoming inspection. Additional responsibilities will include maintaining measurement systems across the site and improving current measurement systems.
Responsibilities
* Identify measurement needs and make informed decisions about the measurement process and timescales required, including selection of tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs.
* Access and interpret information and documentation to support the measurement process including data, manuals, specifications, catalogues, calibration certificates and computer-generated information.
* Prepare the work environment and perform tests and checks on measurement tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs and determine suitability for use.
* Take action when non-conforming tools, equipment, instrumentation, materials and software programs have been identified.
* Plan and perform measurement tasks to ensure verifiable results, using measurement tools, equipment, instrumentation and software programs, following specified procedures and methodologies.
* Retrieve, analyse, interpret, validate and record measurement results and data in line with specification.
* Contribute to the production of records, reports and other measurement documentation.
* Support the development of appropriate effective measurement methods concurrent with latest technologies.
* Develop and write automated measurement programmes.
* Complete measurement studies and write measurement reports which include statistical and layout inspection as appropriate.
* Provide local troubleshooting expertise when issues arise with measurement equipment.
Qualifications
* Achieved GCSE or above; college qualification in either Science, Mathematics or Engineering is a distinct advantage.
* 2+ years experience within a manufacturing and moulding setting is a distinct advantage.
* Be inquisitive, ask questions, and demonstrate a logical approach to problem solving.
* Demonstrated energy and enthusiasm; self-driven and highly motivated to meet deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Strong computer literacy; proficient with relevant software.
* Team player with the ability to accept and work on ideas of others; able to adapt to changing duties as required.
Salary and Benefits
Salary range: £26,000 - £28,000 + benefits package.

Location and Work Arrangement
Primary work location: GBR Plymouth - Belliver Industrial Estate. Work shift: GB-PLY Office Staff 0830-1630 (United Kingdom). On-site collaboration is the norm; roles typically require a minimum in-office presence per week as described in the job posting. Remote or field-based arrangements will be indicated in the posting.
