About The Organisation
Public Services Delivery Scotland (PSD Scotland) was formed on 1 April 2026 when NHS National Services Scotland (NSS) and NHS Education for Scotland (NES) merged. It supports the renewal and sustainability of health and care services across Scotland by providing education, training, data, and vital national functions such as procurement, logistics, and blood, tissue and cell services.
The Post
NHSScotland Assure offers clinical, infection prevention, construction, engineering, environmental and facilities services to Health Boards, the Scottish Government and the wider public sector. The Directorate delivers specialist services including commissioning, screening, national contracting, logistics, outbreak response, clinical protocols, technical standards and guidance, and compliance reviews.
The successful candidate will support the delivery of effective management and control mechanisms for the creation, approval and delivery of change projects across NHSScotland Assure, managing project plans, risks and resources to deliver outcomes at an appropriate level of quality, on time and within budget. The role also involves providing internal consultancy and quality improvement services.
Service Areas
* External Facilities Services – technical and operational guidance to Scottish Government and NHS Scotland bodies, including catering, domestic, laundry, portering and security services.
* Estates and Facilities Services – services to NSS/PSD Scotland, managing buildings and providing a safe, fit-for-purpose environment, property management, governance and fleet services.
* Decontamination Services – engineering support, equipping of health facilities and NHS Scotland Incident Reporting and investigation Centre.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level, hold a relevant Project Management Qualification, and have a strong knowledge of project planning, monitoring and control methodologies. Demonstrable experience across the full project lifecycle and evidence of contribution to business change and quality improvement in a complex, multi‑dependent environment are required. Leadership, team motivation and stakeholder engagement skills are essential, as is effective communication and negotiation in challenging situations.
They should be a self‑starter who prioritises and works independently, with strong planning, organisational and problem‑solving skills, and the flexibility to innovate.
Location and Working Pattern
Gyle Square, Edinburgh or Delta House, Glasgow. Currently hybrid working. Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week. Applicants must live and remain a resident within the UK and have entitlement to work in the UK for the post.
