We're working with a thriving and growing primary school in South Gloucestershire that is looking for a Specialist Education Support Assistant to join its dedicated SEND team. This is an opportunity to support children who need a little extra help to flourish, whether that's building confidence with literacy and numeracy, developing independence, or overcoming barriers to learning. You'll work closely with the SENDCo, teachers, families and external professionals to ensure every child has the support they need to succeed. The role As a Specialist Education Support Assistant, you'll play an important part in delivering targeted support for pupils with additional needs. Your responsibilities will include: Delivering small group interventions and 1:1 support sessions Supporting pupils with literacy and numeracy development Monitoring progress and helping children work towards individual learning targets Working alongside teachers to plan and deliver effective interventions Maintaining accurate records and contributing to pupil reviews Supporting positive behaviour strategies and emotional wellbeing Helping to create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment What we're looking for You'll be someone who believes every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, regardless of the challenges they face. We're keen to hear from candidates who have: Experience working with children or young people with SEND A good standard of education, including English and Maths Strong communication and organisational skills Confidence working with parents, outside agencies and school staff An understanding of effective interventions and how progress can be measured Patience, resilience and a positive approach to supporting learning Additional training in literacy, numeracy, speech and language, or evidence-based intervention programmes would be an advantage, but isn't essential. Safeguarding and Compliance The successful candidate will be required to complete Protocol Education's compliance and safeguarding process, including: Enhanced DBS check, including Children's Barred List check Right to Work checks Professional references Online searches in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education guidance Relevant safeguarding and compliance training Medical fitness and other pre-employment checks where applicable This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and all appointments are subject to satisfactory safeguarding clearances.
