Rotational Midwife - Band 6

We are seeking experienced Band 6 Midwives to join our dynamic, forward thinking team. As a Trust that embraces innovation and excellence, we're looking for passionate professionals ready to make a difference.
This is an exciting time to join us as we prepare to launch our brand new Maternity Triage unit this summer.
Our service includes a fabulous co-located Midwifery Led Unit at St Michael's Hospital alongside another at Weston Hospital, where we deliver exceptional care for low risk birthing people. Our well established Community Midwifery Teams also provide dedicated support for birthing people choosing to have a home birth.
As a Rotational Midwife you'll have the opportunity to rotate to posts across:
* Antenatal/Postnatal Ward
* Central Delivery Suite
* Midwifery Led Units
* Community and Continuity of Carer Teams
* Transitional Care Unit
* Maternity Triage Unit
There is also the opportunity to work within our Antenatal Clinic, Day Assessment Unit and Fetal Medicine Unit. As the major tertiary Fetal Medicine Unit for the South West, we provide highly specialist care for birthing parents and their babies.

Main duties of the job
* Be able to demonstrate leadership and management skills
* Be flexible with a caring attitude, rotating throughout the maternity departments and to be a part of the on-call service we provide.
* Have excellent and extended clinical skills
* Be able to develop clinical skills and participate in continuing their professional development.
* Have experience in solving problems and using initiative.
* Have the ability to take the lead when caring for women and their babies, identifying any deterioration from normal and escalating appropriately.
* Be able to communicate and work together in a multidisciplinary team.

We focus on providing the opportunity to gain appropriate experience to enable progression to band 7. We offer band 7 secondment posts within the unit, where you will feel supported and guided by familiar colleagues that you would have built a rapport with through your band 6 experience.

Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
* Consolidation of practice as a Band 6 Midwife
* Extended clinical midwifery skills
Education and Qualifications
* Registered Midwife with NMC pin
* Assessing in Practice Level 2 or Teaching and Assessing in Practice Level 3 or equiv.
Personal Aptitudes
* Motivation and enthusiasm
* Flexible approach to duties/shifts
Skills and Abilities
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills
* Ability to work as part of a team
* Evidence of teaching skills
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Ability to prioritise care/client needs within research based approach
* Ability to support and act up for Band 7
* Mobile, with the ability to travel within and around Bristol (essential whilst working in Community)
