JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently recruiting for Safety Coaches to join the Shearwater TAR.
This will be starting in May on a 3/3 rotation until October.
This will include:
* Providing Offshore Safety Coaching during turnaround periods
* The Safety Coach is expected to provide support, advice and coaching to TAR Leaders, Supervision and the Workforce, enabling leaders to discharge legal obligations and to meet TAR HSSE Performance Objective and support the offshore TAR HSSE Advisors.
* This is a proactive role with a high degree of vigilant and engagement in HSSE performance monitoring and systems maintenance with continual improvement. Visibly demonstrate Safety and Environmental Leadership skills on-site, including carrying out satisfactory HS&E interventions.
* Reporting to HSE TAR lead.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provision of support, advice, coaching and training to front line TAR leaders, supervisors and workforce, as well as supporting the wider HSSE team.
* Continue to further develop and maintain a safety culture onboard the Facility.
* Promote safety through coaching, knowledge sharing, and in all respects demonstrate a visible leadership in safety and thereby ensuring that accidents are prevented to the maximum extent possible.
* Become a visible "boots on deck" and safety mentor
* Develop effective and influential working relationships with workforce and management to create an environment in which assistance in developing safety performance is welcomed and trusted
* Provide high quality and knowledgeable safety coaching on a wide range of workplace activities including manual handling, lifting, hot work, work at height, energy isolation, confined space entry, heavy vehicle & forklift operations, etc. Competent in offshore safety coaching. Comfortable working with individuals or groups
* Challenge performance issues at all levels, influencing behaviours in a mature, positive and pragmatic manner. Prepared to step in and stop a job wherever safety is considered to be immediately at risk.
* Using Company safety observation system, raise constructive verbal and written hazard observations and safety suggestions.
* Conduct simple behavioural safety audits/conversations and complete required reporting
* Often required to work without direct supervision and as an immediately visible representative of the Company's values, at all times demonstrate a high level of motivation, a strong work ethic, personal integrity and a genuine commitment to safe working.
* Support the effective investigation of workplace incidents
* Assume front-end coaching of the Tar Leaders, Supervision and workforce with respect to:
Hazard observation techniques, risk and preventive barrier understanding.
* Procedures related to safe operation offshore, proper handling and reporting incl. use of Safety Observation Cards
* Assist the workforce in identifying risk and hazards and contribute to find constructive solution to improve safety as well as liaise employees' safety concerns to the onboard management's attention
QUALIFICATIONS
* NEBOSH or equivalent
* Significant experience in an equivalent or similar role in the oil and gas or other high hazard industry.
* Involvement in the implementation, support and/or management of a Corporate Safety Culture program
* Human Factors and behaviours
* Good communication skills
* Knowledge and understanding of HSE tools, methods, practices and principles and experience with maintaining compliance with UK Legislation
* Relevant familiarization in training and coaching of personnel
* Training and experience in accident/incident investigations using a proven root cause analysis methodology
* Experience implementing and maintaining a behavioural based safety system
