Autism Support Teaching Assistant – Calthorpe Academy (B12) Location: Calthorpe Academy, Birmingham, B12 Type: Full-Time / Long-Term Salary: £85–£95 per day (depending on experience and/or qualifications) Start Date: Immediate / Ongoing The School and Role ABC Teachers are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Support Teaching Assistant to join Calthorpe Academy, part of the Thrive Education Partnership, located in the B12 area of Birmingham. Calthorpe Academy is a specialist SEND setting supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. As an Autism Support Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop communication skills, regulate emotions and build independence in a structured, nurturing environment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in SEND, autism support, care, youth work or psychology, or for those looking to build a long-term career in specialist education. Full training and ongoing CPD are available. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism Support learning, communication and social interaction Assist teachers in adapting lessons to meet individual needs Implement behaviour and sensory support strategies Support pupils during transitions, unstructured times and school activities Encourage positive behaviour, confidence and engagement in learning The School Environment Calthorpe Academy provides a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment for pupils with ASC.
