Job summary:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the warehouse, ensuring the efficient, safe, and accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods. This role plays a key part in managing staff, optimising workflows, maintaining inventory accuracy, and upholding high safety and housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Supervision
* Supervise daily warehouse operations, including goods receiving, storage, and dispatch.
* Checking deliveries in and out of the warehouse
* Preparing goods received notes and checking them into the WMS
* Labelling shipments
* Picking and packing from Pick lists
* Breaking down pallets
* Building pallets as per specific client SOP
* General admin including data entry
* Provide clear direction to team members and ensure tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
* Step into the position of leadership when the Warehouse Manager is absent from work.
* Demonstrate a sense of urgency, tasks should be completed as they arise and ahead of schedule with accuracy and expediency.
* Must be proactive and show a willingness to complete tasks.
2. Staff Development
* Train, mentor, and support team members to enhance skills, performance, and overall productivity.
* Monitor employee performance and feedback where necessary to the Warehouse Manager.
3. Process Optimisation
* Follow warehouse operation's effectively and to a high standard, resolving problems and escalate where necessary. Identify, develop and improve warehouse processes, including stock rotation, bond checks, and layout optimisation.
4. Issue Resolution
* Identify and resolve inventory-related issues such as stock shortages, overstocking, or damaged goods, and report to Warehouse Manager or the relevant member of staff
5. Cross-Department Communication
* Liaise effectively with internal departments to coordinate operations.
6. Health & Safety Compliance
* Ensure all warehouse activities comply with health and safety regulations and company policies.
* Promote a safety-first culture across the warehouse team.
* Assist with audit visits, risk assessments and suggestions for safety improvements.
7. Facility & Yard Maintenance
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organisation in the warehouse and yard. Promote 'good housekeeping' with all warehouse staff.
* Coordinate services.
8. Haulier Coordination
* Occasionally book outsourced hauliers for urgent deliveries or collections due to courier non-arrival.
* Log and report all such bookings to the Warehouse Manager.
9. Flexible Working Hours
* Be available to work early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekend shifts based on business needs.
10. Staff Rota & Resource Planning
* Support in creating staff rotas and resource plans, ensuring adequate coverage across all warehouse areas.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £30,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
