Senior C&I Engineer (Safety)
Locations: Hybrid working with one of the following sites as your primary location: Derby, Manchester, or Warrington.
Salary: £51,600 – £67,725 (DOE).
As a Senior Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineer with safety experience, you will play a pivotal role in an industry‑leading, cutting‑edge design project for a new type of power station.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Provide safety case support for all C&I systems and the overall C&I architecture within the RR SMR programme.
* Ensure safety case requirements are clearly defined and embedded into engineering design activities.
* Drive alignment between safety case documentation and C&I system design.
* Maintain and update the Claims, Arguments, and Evidence (CAE) structure for C&I systems.
* Apply ALARP, BAT, and relevant good practice (RGP) principles.
* Ensure compliance with SMR Environment, Safety, Security, and Safeguards (E3S) Principles.
* Review and ensure engineering documentation is fit‑for‑purpose and aligned with E3S requirements.
* Collaborate across engineering disciplines and supply chain partners to deliver robust C&I safety case solutions.
Key Criteria
Previous experience within the nuclear industry is desirable; however, a proven record of working across highly regulated industries (e.g., Nuclear, Defence, Aerospace, Oil & Gas) would be a benefit.
Qualifications Requirement
You will likely hold a degree‑level qualification in electrical engineering or a related subject. Applicants without a degree who can nevertheless demonstrate suitable experience may also be considered.

Salary and Package
* Salary: £51,600 – £67,725 (DOE)
* Bonus: Performance‑related target opportunity 12.5%
* Benefits Allowance: £2,200 per annum for bespoke package
* Pension: 12% employer and 6% employee contributions
* Holidays: 28 days holiday (+ public holidays), with option to buy/sell up to 4 days
