To act in a professional, proactive capacity in order to provide a positive living experience for the children and young people resident in the home utilising the framework of the Model of Attachment Practice. What you'll do To become familiar with the Model of Attachment Practice operating and apply the principles to care practices in respect of the individual child/young person or group. To develop caring relationships with children in the Home and ensuring that their physical, psychological, social and emotional needs are met in accordance with Trust Residential Child Care Policy. To be sensitive to the needs of individual children/young people, taking account of race, culture, language and religion. To be familiar with Trust policies in all matters concerning the facility and to implement such matters including the completion of relevant records. To assist the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker in providing a safe caring and supportive environment for children. To monitor the children during the night and provide assistance and support to them. To assist the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker in bed time and waking routines. To provide support to the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker in preparing suppers, snacks, breakfasts and packed lunches for the children. To undertake household duties, which include, but are not limited to, washing up, laundry, ironing duties around the home when the children have gone to bed. To check that the building is secure and that all fire prevention equipment is functioning - report any defects to the Social Work Manager. To participate in Team meetings within the home. To contribute to the identification of personal and Home training needs and to attend induction training and other in service training events as required. To bring to the attention of the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker anything untoward or where the involvement of the Residential Social Worker / Residential Care Worker would be required. To contribute to the maintenance of records in respect of individual young people relating to events occurring within the home during the night. Include main duties of the post in order of importance To be able to complete up to and including level 3 TCI physical intervention techniques and to apply levels 1 to level 3 when safely able to do so under the terms prescribed in each individual young person's care plan in managing children/young people with potential violent outbursts. About you 5 GCSE's Grade C or above including English and Maths and a minimum 6 months experience of working with children / young people age 10 - 18 years in a formal setting. OR Relevant Child Care / Social Care qualification e.g. NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and a minimum 6 months experience of working with children/ young people age 10 - 18 years in a formal setting. OR A higher qualification i.e. Degree in Social Work, Teaching, Youth Work OR A minimum 3 years' experience of working with children/ young people age 10 - 18 years in a formal setting.
